I'm Back at Silver Dollar City!!!

There are some places that just feel like home — and for me, one of those places is Silver Dollar City. This season I found myself walking through those familiar gates again, but this time with a name tag on and a very exciting role. I’m officially back at Silver Dollar City as a ride operator at Time Traveler, and honestly, it still feels a little surreal.

If you’ve ever visited Silver Dollar City, you know the park has a certain magic about it. The music, the smell of kettle corn in the air, craftsmen working in their shops, and the laughter coming from the rides all blend together into something really special. Being part of that atmosphere again reminds me why I loved working here in the first place.

And getting assigned to Time Traveler? That’s a whole other level of exciting.

For those who haven’t ridden it yet, Time Traveler isn’t just any roller coaster. It’s one of the most unique rides in the park. The spinning cars, the launches, the drops — every train that leaves the station sends riders on a completely different experience. Watching people come back into the station laughing, shocked, and sometimes a little dizzy is honestly one of the best parts of the job.

Working at Time Traveler also means I get a front-row seat to some of the best reactions in the park. Some riders come off shouting that it’s their new favorite ride. Others sit there for a second trying to process what just happened. And every once in a while someone walks off saying, “Okay… I need to ride that again.”

Behind the scenes, there’s a lot that goes into running a ride like this. Safety checks, making sure every rider is secure, keeping the trains moving smoothly, and making sure everyone has a great experience from the moment they step into the station. It’s a team effort, and I’ve already been reminded how amazing the crews at Silver Dollar City really are.

But beyond the ride itself, what makes coming back special is the people. The coworkers, the returning guests who visit year after year, and the families making brand-new memories. You get to see kids riding their first big coaster, parents cheering them on, and groups of friends daring each other to sit in the back row.

Moments like that make the long days completely worth it.

Standing on the platform and sending each train out, hearing the launch roar, and watching riders disappear down that first drop… it’s a reminder that I get to be part of something that brings people real joy.

So if you’re visiting Silver Dollar City this season, there’s a pretty good chance you might see me working at Time Traveler. If you do, be sure to say hi before you hop on for your spin through time.

And fair warning — once you ride it, you’ll probably want to get right back in line.
